The McLaren 765LT Spider is the open-top expression of McLaren’s ‘Longtail’ philosophy: extreme performance, lightweight engineering, and razor-sharp dynamics in a convertible supercar. With only 765 units produced worldwide, the 765LT is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, it produces 755 bhp and 800 Nm of torque, delivered through a 7-speed Seamless-Shift Gearbox to the rear wheels. Acceleration from 0-62 mph takes 2.8 seconds, with 0-124 mph (200 km/h) in 7.2 seconds, and a top speed of 205 mph.

Its structural design keeps it exceptionally close to the coupe in terms of rigidity and weight. The Spider weighs 1,388 kg (DIN kerb weight), just 49 kg more than the 765LT coupe, yet 80 kg lighter than the 720S Spider. Carbon fibre features heavily throughout—MonoCage II-S chassis, titanium exhausts, lightweight forged wheels—along with advanced aero elements including an active rear wing calibrated for roof-up and roof-down driving.

The cabin stays true to McLaren’s focus on driver involvement: lightweight racing seats, extensive use of Alcantara, reduced sound insulation, and exposed carbon fibre. The Retractable Hard Top roof deploys in just 11 seconds, operable at speeds up to 31mph, while an electrically opened rear window lets the quad-exit titanium exhaust’s note resonate when the roof is up.
