Rolls-Royce history & heritage

Rolls-Royce was founded by Charles Rolls and Henry Royce in 1904. Charles Rolls was a car dealer, and Henry Royce was an engineer and businessman. Their first car, the Rolls-Royce 10 hp, was unveiled at the Paris Salon in December 1904. In 1906, Rolls-Royce introduced the legendary Silver Ghost, which quickly gained a reputation for its exceptional quality, reliability, and smooth performance. Throughout the early 20th century, Rolls-Royce continued to expand its lineup and innovate in automotive technology. They introduced models like the Phantom series, which further solidified the brand’s position in the luxury car market. During World War I, Rolls-Royce began producing aircraft engines, which became a significant part of their business. The company’s expertise in aviation technology contributed to the development of high-performance engines, including the famous Merlin engine used in aircraft such as the Spitfire and the Lancaster bomber during World War II. After World War II, Rolls-Royce resumed automobile production with models like the Silver Wraith and the Silver Dawn. These cars continued the tradition of luxury and craftsmanship that the brand was known for. In 1998, BMW acquired the rights to the Rolls-Royce brand name and logo for use on automobiles, while Volkswagen acquired the Bentley marque. BMW subsequently built a new state-of-the-art manufacturing plant for Rolls-Royce in Goodwood, England.

Rolls-Royce engines & performance

Rolls-Royce’s world-famous V12 engines, found in the Cullinan, Phantom, Ghost, and Dawn, stand as a testament to the brand’s commitment to engineering excellence and luxury automotive craftsmanship. Renowned for their smooth and supple power delivery, it’s said that you can balance a £1 coin on top of the engine while running, and it won’t fall. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail and hand-built by skilled artisans at Rolls-Royce’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Goodwood, England, these engines deliver effortless acceleration and a serene driving experience. Rolls-Royce is not only known for its automotive engines, though. They produce engines for various sectors including aerospace, marine, and industrial purposes. In aerospace, Rolls-Royce is a global leader in producing engines for commercial airliners, military aircraft, and private jets. Their marine engines are used in ships and naval vessels while they also make engines for industrial applications such as power generation and rail transportation. Across all sectors, Rolls-Royce engines represent a legacy of engineering innovation and excellence, setting benchmarks for performance and quality.

Rolls-Royce servicing

Much like the BMW’s iDrive system Rolls-Royce keeps all of its servicing information within its central infotainment system. This has all the information for future service requirements and past service history with the car alerting you to when a service may be approaching or due. This works on a variable schedule where the car decides what service requirements it needs based on various factors such as external climate conditions and driving style reducing or extending the distance between required work accordingly. At Alexanders Prestige, we offer unparalleled expertise, personalised care, and a commitment to excellence that is unmatched in the industry. Our team of highly trained technicians possesses specialised knowledge of Rolls-Royce vehicles and utilises state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment to ensure precise servicing tailored to your car’s needs. We exclusively use genuine Rolls-Royce parts and accessories, preserving the integrity and value of your vehicle, while providing ongoing support to help you maintain the performance and luxury of your Rolls-Royce for years to come.
