Used McLaren 720S for sale

The McLaren 720S first came on sale in 2017 as and stayed in production until 2023. An important car for McLarenthat faced fierce rivals such as the Ferrari 488, Lamborghini Aventador and Porsche 911 GT3. The 720S has an option for a Track Pack that includes more track-oriented equipment such as a roll bar, bucket seats and carbon-based weight saving measures that allow the car to lose 24kg.

What the 720S has to offer

Lots of performance. The McLaren720S doesn’t hang around, with a 0-100mph time of 5.6 seconds. Lots of this is thanks to the mid-mounted 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8, which achieves a peak power output of 710bhp, and 568 lb-ft of torque. The aforementioned engine is attached to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The McLaren 720S has more to it than just brute force, however, and has double wishbone suspension at both ends of the car, and unlike many of its competitors, abandons electric steering for more traditional hydraulic assistance. The car also comes in under 1.5 tonnes, which is pretty good for a Supercar, judging by today’s standards. The 720s does this mostly thanks to the second generation of McLaren’s carbon Super Series structure, which contributes to only 102kg of the entire car’s mass. This means the car’s structure is not only light but incredibly strong.

Interior and tech

Swing open the customary McLarenbutterfly doors, and you’ll find a clean, modern cabin. There’s a large carbon sill to step over. Once you’re in, it’s hard to know exactly what you’ll be greeted with, both material and colour-wise, as McLarenoffered a huge range of personalization options at the time. The design of the cabin is good, but it has two displays. Right in front of the driver’s seat, sits a smaller screen that displays all information such as speed, revs, tyre pressures and such like. This unit flips around when you engage track mode to display only the essentials. The larger screen sits in the middle of the dashboard, angled towards the driver, and displays navigation and any in-car entertainment. Note that the main display is reportedly not the easiest to use.

What are the running costs?

The McLaren720S can hardly be expected to be frugal, and it isn’t. The 720S is rated for 23.3 mpg WLTP and CO2 emissions of 276g/km. Supercar-worthy figures, then, and you can safely assume the upkeep of any 720S will not be a cheap affair. The standard warranty lasted only 36 months, but there were options to extend warranties and service. Service intervals of every 10,000 miles or 12 months (whichever arrives first), are best adhered to, to keep the car in its best possible condition.
