Used Ferrari Purosangue for sale

Purosangue means “pure blood” in Italian, but when you tweak the translation a bit, it comes across as ‘thoroughbred’. This fits well for a brand known for its elegant horse emblem, though it’s a bit of a departure for a company famous for its sports cars. Ferrari’s first crack at a more practical, higher-riding vehicle has resulted in a four-door, four-seat, four-wheel drive SUV with a hefty 6.5-liter V12 engine under the hood. However, Ferrari doesn’t want to label the Purosangue as an SUV. They argue it represents a new category entirely, something distinct. This sparks debates akin to the old adage: if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck… As much as it pains us, though, to admit, Ferrari might have a point.

Why the Ferrari Purosangue is unlike any other SUV

Considering the rise of super-SUVs like the Lamborghini Urus and Aston Martin DBX 707, there’s a debate brewing about what exactly defines “sportiness”. You see, many of them rely heavily on electronics and sheer power to defy the laws of physics; they’re more like fun sledgehammers than precision instruments. But the Purosangue is different. By strictly adhering to the SUV concept, it could be argued that it’s the truest, most authentic SUV out there. It genuinely exudes a sporty vibe. Limited to four seats, with plush rear accommodations accessed through rear-hinged doors, it offers a thoroughly sporting experience. Its 715bhp, 6.5-litre V12 engine, a configuration not seen since the Lamborghini LM002 era and the departure of the Q7 V12 TDI, borrows various components from Ferrari’s rich parts inventory (which is quite a treasure trove), and it’s snugly tucked under the bonnet, almost close enough to warm your knees with its last two cylinders. Positioned as a front-mid-engined vehicle, the layout is evident in its dynamics. The eight-speed gearbox, operated by paddles, sits at the rear, with a power take-off unit (borrowed mainly from the GTC4 Lusso) managing a set of clutches to distribute power to each front wheel. Despite its four-wheel-drive setup, it feels like a rear-wheel-drive car in most scenarios, with the four-wheel drive acting more as a support system rather than offering genuine off-roading capabilities.

How does it stack up against the competition?

Setting aside cost considerations, the Purosangue outshines its Urus/DBX counterparts. Unlike its competitors, it doesn’t rely on shared components from other brands. The Urus shares platforms, engines, and more with Bentley, Audi, and Porsche, while Aston Martin borrows powertrain technology from Mercedes-Benz. All these rivals adhere to a conventional SUV layout, prioritising practicality and space. The Purosangue, however, prioritises Ferrari’s identity first and then figures out how to carve out space without compromising its essence. But it comes with a hefty price tag, considering it’s not significantly faster than the DBX 707 or Urus Performante. However, its driving experience surpasses both. The purity of its V12 engine, coupled with impeccable ride quality and handling, sets it apart in the hyper SUV category.

Buying a Ferrari Purosangue

When buying a Ferrari Purosangue, it’s essential to consider various factors to ensure a well-informed purchase and to potentially avoid common issues associated with these luxury vehicles.

  • Condition: The condition of the vehicle is the first thing to take into account. It’s easy to spot a car that has not been looked after, with obvious damage to paintwork, wheels, and leather. Every car purchased by Alexanders Prestige goes into our in-house body shop, where it is inspected for any imperfections inside or out. These are then corrected prior to the car being put on sale.
  • Service History: All new Ferraris are supplied with a manufacturer 7-year Maintenance Program which includes factory-scheduled servicing at standard yearly intervals. Maintenance records are the next thing to look at. These ensure that the car has been serviced in accordance with the manufacturer’s schedule and that this has been carried out at a Ferrari main dealer or Specialist garage.
  • Mechanical Inspection: Some things aren’t easy to spot from the outside, and at Alexanders Prestige, every car is put through a rigorous mechanical inspection prior to sale.
  • Warranty: At Alexander Prestige, if the car is not still covered within the manufacturer’s 4-year warranty period, we provide a 6-month Platinum vehicle warranty, meaning you can drive away with peace of mind knowing you’re covered.
