The Bentley Azure Mulliner combines the presence of Bentley’s flagship four-seat convertible with the individual craftsmanship of the marque’s bespoke commissioning division. Introduced in 2006, the second-generation Azure was developed from the Arnage, retaining Bentley’s traditional 6.75-litre twin-turbocharged V8 and rear-wheel-drive layout. Producing 450 bhp and 875 Nm of torque, the engine is paired with an automatic transmission, delivering 0-62 mph in 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 168 mph. Its character is defined by effortless acceleration and relaxed long-distance refinement, with substantial torque reserves providing smooth, sustained performance. Carbon-fibre underfloor cross-bracing reinforces the open-top structure, while independent double-wishbone suspension and adaptive damping balance body control with a supple ride. The hydraulically operated, three-layer fabric roof folds beneath a leather-trimmed tonneau, preserving the Azure’s uninterrupted profile when lowered. Inside, hand-finished wood veneers, leather upholstery and traditional analogue instruments create a cabin centred on craftsmanship rather than visual technology. Mulliner personalisation extends this approach through individually matched hide colours, fine exterior coachlines and intricate veneer detailing, including frame-style inlays to the wraparound waistrails. These bespoke choices distinguish individual specifications without changing the Azure’s underlying emphasis on comfort and refinement. With its long bonnet, sweeping rear quarters and commanding proportions, the Bentley Azure Mulliner remains a distinctive expression of traditional British open-top grand touring.
