Mercedes-Benz GLS For Sale

Used Mercedes-Benz GLS for sale

Prior to the GLS, the GL-Class was first produced in 2006. The GLS replaced it in 2016 and offered quite the upgrade. The GLS is important for the brand as a large SUV, not only providing seven seats but also enabling Maybach to use the GLS to target cars such as the Bentley Bentayga. Think of the GLS as the S-Class of SUVs.

What does the GLS have to offer?

The GLS offers everything the GLE does but with added space. Homogenous looks, build quality, interior, and ability means the GLS is a supremely competent car. The GLS’ increased exterior dimensions over the GLE means that the GLS brings enough space for seven seats in a much more usable configuration than the GLE could ever hope to. As such, the GLS makes for an extremely competent long-distance cruiser. The GLS is highly focused on comfort and refinement, and Mercedes has done their best to hide the car’s considerable mass. The only engine on offer from launch is a 3.0-litre straight-six diesel, which can be found elsewhere in the Mercedes’ range. It’s a tried and tested unit and remains as able as ever.

Interior and tech

The interior is the best place to be when it comes to the GLS. The car’s external dimensions translate to a cavernous interior, one which comfortably fits adults in the third row of seats, which not many cars can manage. The seats in the third row also benefit from being heated and having their own climate controls, and all seats inside the GLS move electronically, which means getting the seats in operation is easy enough. Mercedeseven went as far as using microphones to pipe the driver’s voice into the rear speakers so that the passengers in the third row can hear without having to shout. All of this demonstrates aptly the GLS’ spacious interior. The dashboard is very similar to the GLE’s, with the same dual 12.3” screens that house Mercedes’ MBUX infotainment system that first arrived in the A-Class. The GLS uses two touch pads on the wheel, which control the left and right screens, respectively.

What are the running costs?

Thanks to its immense weight and size, the GLS will not be cheap to run. The GLS 63, which trades economy for performance, claims a maximum of 22.1 mpg. The 3.0-litre diesel V6, on the other hand, achieves 30.7mpg at its best and has CO2 emissions of 203g/km. The GLS should be mostly reliable, though this doesn’t mean that servicing will be cheap.
