Used Mercedes-Benz AMG GT for sale

The MercedesAMG GT was first produced in 2015 as a brawny 2-seater sports coupe or convertible, surviving through several facelifts and updates. Gradually, Mercedesintroduced more models in the range, such as the GT S and R, before we saw the likes of the famous Black Series name making an appearance, among various editions such as the Night Edition and the PRO.

What the AMG GT has to offer

It’s a good-looking car with a seemingly expansive bonnet. The AMG GT is a wide, imposing car, to be sure, with large rear haunches helped in part by the large grille that dominates the car’s face. Another significant part of the AMG GT’s appeal lies in its V8 engine, with the 2024 model embracing hybridity with a small electric motor that smooths out and improves the V8’s power delivery, which was hardly lacklustre to begin with. Models without electric motors are the best examples of AMG GTs, cars which, at their core, are full of old-school, internal combustion charm, helped massively by the V8’s sound. The AMG GT isn’t the quickest car in its class, lagging behind class leaders such as the Porsche 911 Turbo S, though the difference is only slight, with both cars being ridiculously fast.

Interior and tech

In the latest hybrid model, which is capable of setting off silently in EV-only mode, there’s a huge array of driving modes, including Electric, Battery Hold, Comfort, Slippery, Sport, Sport+ and individual. The car also has regenerative breaking that helps keep the range of the small electric motors topped up. The most exclusive AMG GT must be the Black Series. With this being only the sixth time, a car has worn the Black Series badge, Mercedeshave a lot to live up for. The Black Series is wilder, lighter, faster and less forgiving than any AMG GT that has gone before. The AMG department at Mercedeshas added another 160bhp, and importantly, the Black Series uses a flat-plane crankshaft, not a cross-plane crankshaft like every other AMG GT. Traditionally, the sound of a cross-plane is preferred, but cross-plane engines have the potential for more power and efficiency.

What are the running costs?

The AMG GT isn’t frugal, which shows, with fuel efficiency of 20mpg and CO2 emissions of 224-216g/km, depending on the precise model. A high-performance, V8-engined sports car with a near six-figure price tag is never going to be cheap to run, and insurance and tax costs will be about as costly as can be achieved. With build quality typical of Mercedes, the AMG GT should prove reliable, though, and maintaining the car will be crucial to
