BMW X7 for sale
Used BMW X7 for sale
The BMW X7 was first produced in 2018 and came on sale in 2019 as BMW’s biggest SUV. Think BMW X5 but bigger, and you get the BMW X7. Built to rival cars such as the Audi Q8, when it comes to BMW SUVs, it doesn’t get bigger or more expensive than the X7.
What the X7 has to offer
The BMW X7 is hard not to notice, with the later versions having elongated versions of the famous BMW kidney grilles. Aside from its marmite looks, BMW has continued the X5’s success with the X7, and there’s no doubt the X7 won’t be a highly competent car, and like the X5, it will hide its weight well from the driver. As well as practical, the top-spec X7 M60i offers more than enough pace for a car that can fit a whole family and their luggage aboard, thanks to its twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 powerplant that produces 523 bhp and 553lb-ft of torque. The BMW X7 is a big car, weighing in at 2675kg, which makes the X7’s short work of the dash from 0-62mph in 4.7 seconds even more impressive and gravity-defying.
Interior and tech
Interior-wise, the X7 is the roomiest SUV, as its exterior proportions suggest. There’s even an optional extra in the 2024 model that replaces the middle bench seat with two captain’s chairs, giving those in the middle row just about the same room as those up front. Although, the X7’s seven-seater layout hardly lacked room to begin with. If all three rows of seats are in action, then expect to lose 424 litres of boot space. Side note: the 2024 X7 has a split tailgate to aid loading. You’re very high up in the X7, and the cabin is well-lit thanks to the standard panoramic roof. BMW’s latest tech can be found in the 2024 X7, with a curved display that integrates a 12.3” instrument display panel and an even bigger 14.9” central infotainment screen into a single unit. The X7 also benefits from BMW’s iDrive controller for on-the-move navigation of the infotainment screen.
What are the running costs?
Naturally, a big, heavy car such as the X7 will never be cheap to run. According to WLTP standards, the least environmentally conscious, top-spec BMW X7 M60i achieves 18mpg combined and CO2 emissions of 274-292 g/km. Its closest rival, the RSQ8, is slightly worse in the CO2 emissions department, registering 305-289 g/km but slightly better in fuel efficiency, clocking 21.2mpg. One of the biggest costs for the X7 will be depreciation, especially when buying new, making used examples much more tempting.
