BMW X5 For Sale

Used BMW X5 for sale

The BMW X5 first arrived on the large SUV market in 1999 and is still in production though there have been four generations since. It’s the car that started BMW’s successful line of big SUVs.

What the X5 has to offer

Imagine a BMW X3 that has grown in every direction. Similar in many ways to its little sibling, the X3, the latest X5 is bigger and plusher than ever. With plenty of space in the cabin and boot and driving dynamics that are extremely impressive for a car of its class, the BMW X5 certainly makes a compelling case. Although unlikely, all X5 models come with xDrive all-wheel drive as standard, meaning the X5 will be reasonably capable in the rough. The X5 M sits at the top of the range alongside Competition variants. Both are powered by the same twin turbo, 4.4l, and the V8 makes 617bhp in the M and 625 bhp in the competition, making the X5 stupendously fast for its size. The X5 is a very talented all-rounder and provides some real competition for cars like the Porsche Cayenne.

Interior and tech

With a spacious, well-thought-out interior, there’s plenty of space for tech, which is a good thing because the latest X5 has lots of it. With a large dual screen stretching across the dashboard that is covered in high-quality materials like leather, the interior is a pleasant place to spend time in. The seats are set high in the cabin, giving a commanding view of the road. Past generations of X5 don’t skip on tech either with equipment such as Bi Xenon headlights and heated seats coming as standard.

What are the running costs?

Precise figures vary between model years, and cheaper models are correspondingly cheaper to run. The lowest spec-the 30d, claims 47.1mpg, whereas the top spec X5 M manages a mere 15mpg. The X5 M also falls into the most expensive tax bracket, with WLTP CO2 emissions of 283 g/km. Not surprising, given the weight and size of the car.
