Used BMW 2 Series for sale

The 2 Series was introduced as a successor to the BMW 1 Series Coupe and Convertible models, aiming to offer a more cohesive and sporty design, along with enhanced performance characteristics. Designed to provide a more focused driving experience, the 2 Series Coupe and Convertible were positioned as entry-level models within BMW’s lineup alongside the 1 series, appealing to drivers who desired the brand’s performance and luxury in a smaller package. The 2 Series quickly gained popularity among automotive enthusiasts for its engaging driving dynamics, sleek design, and a range of powerful engine options. Over the years, BMW expanded the 2 Series lineup to include various models such as the M2 Coupe, which offered even higher levels of performance and agility.

The new BMW M2

The new M2 may have divided opinions with its design, but no one can argue about how good it is to drive. Fitted with the M3/M4’s twin turbo straight six engine producing a whopping 460bhp in a small and agile package. Built on a shortened chassis of its big brothers but with the same track width & suspension, the car feels planted, agile and responsive. Available in both Manual and Automatic, the majority will be chosen in the latter and that’s no bad thing with the new ZF gearbox replacing the already impressive DCT. On the inside its all-singing, all-dancing, new technology as you’d expect with the option of full Carbon Bucket seats available aswell. Overall the new M2 is every bit as good as the last generation, BMW were clever in taking a large part of this new car from the incredible M3/M4 making it almost impossible to mess up but if anything they’ve made it better.

M2 vs M2 Competition. What’s the difference?

First introduced in 2016 the BMW M2 was the M divisions smallest & cheapest car available, built due to the success of the 1M Coupe back in 2012. The car was powered by the N55 single turbo engine also found in the M235i, uprated to produce 365 bhp. Everything else however, was buitt from scratch by the boffins in Munich, and they created nothing short of a masterpiece, a true drivers car for the purists.

In 2018 the M2 Competition arrived knocking the M2 off the production line as it’s replacement. This wasn’t just a facelift though but a completely different car. The most notable change was the engine. Gone was the old N55 and in came the BMW M3/M4’s twin-turbo S55. Power was increased by 39bhp up to 404bhp with a more linear, predictable power delivery than the previous generation. The engine wasn’t the only thing stolen from its big brother with the seats being fitted as well (a much needed cabin upgrade). Externally a full bodywork redesign gave the car a more aggressive, meaningful stance and underneath everything had been tweaked and retuned just enough to make the Competition feel like a completely new & improved car.
