CELEBRATING THE GLORIOUS V10
With spring nearly upon us, surely now is the perfect time to start thinking about taking our convertible sports cars and supercars out of hibernation and start enjoying the better weather that is just around the corner. A little optimistic, perhaps, but with a 640bhp Lamborghini Huracan Performante Spyder sitting proudly at the top of the Alexanders showroom ready for a new owner, it is hard not to imagine such an awe-inspiring Italian supercar being piloted on a trip through the Scottish highlands or racing through the Swiss Alps on a European driving tour.
Developed with a great focus on handling, performance, and technology, the jaw-dropping Lamborghini Huracan Performante Spyder LP640-4 LDF is a true expression of bespoke Italian craftsmanship, design, and engineering prowess. Three central features make the Performante really shine – a charismatic 5.2 litre naturally-aspirated V10, an exquisite aerodynamic system, and the use of an advanced ‘Forged Composite’ architecture propel it to the upper echelons of the automotive history books. It will no doubt go down in history as one of the final “pure” and “unadulterated” supercars ever created.
Admirers of the era-defining Audi R8 V10 will be familiar with the 5.2 litre V10 power unit; it has made a long-lasting mark on the supercar scene. And although the engine has been shared with Lamborghini for a while now, it has been totally reworked for the Performante to generate an utterly intoxicating driving experience. Most supercars are now turbocharged V6s or V8s, and they do an incredible job of providing engaging experiences, but very little can match a V10 for aural enjoyment or visceral excitement. It howls, reverberates, and sings at high rpm with the ferocity of a racing car but the refinement of a well-engineered road car.
Allowing the Performante Spyder to be agile, responsive, yet settled at any speed, the ‘Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva’ comprises a series of small flaps built into the rear wing and body which adapt depending on the driving environment and which mode you have selected. In “Strada”, maximum downforce is achieved, whereas a turn of the dial to “Sport” or “Corsa” will lower drag by increasing slipperiness through the air, enabling maximum straight line speed. Combined with a heavily developed LDF double-clutch transmission, the Performante fuses old school charm with the latest engineering like little else.
Our beautiful example is finished in Ad Personam Blu Aegeus with a Nero Cosmus and Giallo Taurus Bicolour Alcantara interior, has covered just 1,790 miles from new, and comes with a Lamborghini main dealer service history.
It boasts an extensive list of optional features, including: 20’’ lightweight forged bronze alloy wheels, style pack in high gloss black, lifting system with magneto-rhelogical suspension, big forged interior matte carbon fibre interior pack, full electric heated comfort seats, and the branding package with embroidered logos on the head restraints.
When you’ve taken everything into account, the Performante Spyder comes across as a truly versatile, smile-inducing, laugh-out-loud, technically competent supercar. And undeniably a proper Lamborghini.
